For a long time, I realized that the opposite of love is not hate but fear. And reading here that you see it is instead “separation” makes total sense to me. If God is Love, and Love alone is Real (Meher Baba) then the opposite of love would be ego consciousness, aka separation. And separation does indeed carry within it a fundamental sense of fear. I, too, had an understanding that the opposite of love is fear. But when we’re made in the image of God and God is love then we’re love, too. So if love is not present then there is a separation from our true self which would lead to fear.
